Comments: | Reinhardt was born in Austria, and his original name was Max Goldmann. He was Jewish, and lived abroad after the Nazis assumed power in Germany in 1933. Reinhardt was one of the first theatrical directors to achieve widespread recognition as a major creative artist, working in Berlin, Salzburg, New York City and Hollywood. |
